El peticionario cuenta en la misiva que su hijo, el soldado Croce Giammusso, desapareció durante un reconocimiento que varias patrullas llevaron a cabo en Valsugana en Julio de 1917. Al volver a la trinchera, tres hombres no regresaron y, aunque se encontró el cadáver de dos de ellos, de Giammusso, que era el tercer desaparecido, ni se tenían noticias ni se encontró el cuerpo.
