History
Era miembro de un noble y acaudalada familia florentina.
Tras estudiar con los jesuitas en Florencia se trasladó a Roma, al Colegio romano, donde siguió completando su formación que culminó con su doctorado en derecho por la Universidad de Pisa. Tras la muerte de su padre en 1685 regresó a Roma donde desarrolló una ascendente carrera eclesiástica en la que ocupó diversos oficios curiales
