    History

    Religioso dominico. Fue el papa nº 245 de la Iglesia Católica.
    Hijo primogénito de Fernando III de Orsini, Duque de Gravina in Puglia, y de su esposa Giovanna Frangipane della Tolfa del Tufo de la casa ducal de Grumo. A los nueve años y por fallecimiento de su padre, heredó los títulos de Duque de Gravina in Puglia, Príncipe de Solofra, Príncipe de Vallata, Conde de Muro Lucano y patricio de Nápoles.

    Debido a su prolongado cardenalato, formó parte de varios cónclaves entre 1689, 1691, 1700, 1721 y 1724
